Rhino Hitch step saves, AGAIN!!

Hey to all, I posted a couple of weeks ago about being rear ended on 495 in the DC Metro area and my "Rhino Hitch Step" saved the day. WELL I haven't even finished with the first accident when today a retired two star general (in his Mica 04 4Runer by the way) decides he needs to give me a little love tap. "foot slipped off the brake pedal". I almost lost my mind....I get out and luckily, BECAUSE the Hitch Step was there all he did was scuff it a little and snap out the plastic cover. I tell him of my disgust as this just had happened and that it was a new step, he asks if I want his insurance info and I tell him no, just cover the Step. at that he hands me a crisp $100 and asks if that will do it? I said yes and let him off with, "Have a nice day". I'm hoping my 4Runner isn't an accident magnet!!

The Rhino Hitch is worth the money..

Yeah I've been thinking of getting me some rear protection but just haven't gotten around to it.

sharp4runr, yep you're right I could of, Two star and me a cranky old Command Sergeat Major.....but it would of been for all the wrong reasons (Generals from the past I didn't like), so I let him slide.

So I think I'm gonna go with the WAAG bars. I looked at a guys post, with pictures and they look pretty good on his black 04. will let everybody know. If I get hit after that then its BIG bumpers all around, may need a super charger to haul the extra weight, hummmm. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. CSM-H

I thought they go for about $150 for the brush polished ones!!!

Derek and all, I have bought three of them lately from Summit or JC Whitney, I get the black ones for, actually $89.00/$79.00 (sale)...works for me. CSM-H

I think you might have been looking at my 04 I'm loving the WAAG rear guards. Its protected my backend now a couple of times so far, with only a couple of dents and scratches on the bar to show for it. Crazy city drivers. Nobody seems to believe in personal space anymore

Yes it was and it looks great!! Any chance you can send some pictures of your WAAG set up from "above"? I would like to see how the contour fits to the actual bumper (on the front). I saw some, I don't think they were WAAG that just looked stuuuuuped!! thanks, CSM-H

I'll try to take a few more pics of the bumper guards tonight and add them to my gallery thread tomorrow.

In all honesty, while I love the look of the front WAAG guard from head on, in certain side views, it can look a bit out of place and strange on my 4runner. But, for me, having the added protection is worth it.
