Hey everyone. I have a 2003 limited 4runner. I want to upgrade to 20" wheels. I don't know if I will be adding a lift yet, but I have a question. What will the ride quality and gas mileage with 20" wheels be like in comparison to the stock 17" wheels? My gas mileage is about 18 and the ride quality is good. Any thoughts?

I ride on 20" wheels in the summer. My opinion is, because of the width of the wheel/tire, I actually think the 4Runner ride is a bit more stable. Sure there's a slight compromise in ride quality and gas mileage but nothing really that noticable. Besides, in the summer, the vehicle looks fantastic. Somewhere in post (see link below) is a picture with my 20" wheels on.

I have been running 20" wheels on my 4Runner in the summer for 3 years with no significant mileage changes compared to the 17" stockers. The handleing is much, much better and the ride is a little stiffer which I don't mind at all. I have the TRD/Enkei rims with Kumho 295/45R20 Ecsta STX tires and have ben very pleased with the performance and treadwear of the tires. I am planning on lifting my ruck this year and going with a 17" or 18"x 32" all terrain tire/wheel combo.

I sure will. As soon as I start ordering my parts, probably when the snow is gone. What do you think they're worth? Tires are 90% and rims are perfect. No scratches, pitts or gouges at all. I do know they're not that easy to come by. I waited 6 months for the rims.
