Rigid Industries Hyperspot vs. Spot

I currently have a pair of the rigid industries dually flood lights but am looking for way more distance. These light up road reflectors and signs from a good distance, but when it comes to lighting up the road surface at distance, they are pretty useless. Has anyone had experience with the hyperspot and spot lights? I called rigid and they recommended a 5° hyperspot pattern to go with my floods, but I am worried that that could be too narrow and not provide good visibility when going around corners. Specifically, I am looking at the 10" E2 hyperspot, 10" E spot, or 20" E spot.

I have an ARB bumper and am thinking of using clamps to mount the lightbar on the underside of the Bullbar/hoop.

Opinions on this setup or any other options out there? I know that rigids are very expensive compared to other options on the market.

You might have better luck posting in the general discussion or 5th/4th gen sections. Not to diss on us 3rd gen owners, but most seem to go el cheapo route. Not many are running the Rigids. [MENTION=67615]Dirtco[/MENTION] might be able to chime in though.

I have the rigid 30"E series light bar on my Kawasaki teryx (sxs) it is a lot of light! lights up the desert nicely to the point of confidence on night rides (dunes) .they are big $$$ but also top of the line when it comes to off road lighting.cant really go wrong with maybe a 10" bumper mount or 20" roof mount would be a great set up for the runner.mine were set up in a floods/spot /floods configuration with the outside 5"(apron) being floods on each end for side illumination .i wouldn't recommend these lights on the road use,you will look like a "ufo" coming at oncoming traffic and probably cause an accident . my runner isn't my designated off road vehicle but i love the fact that its a little bad ass and capable if need be ,so my 4runner gets a set of piaa 510 just to show some love (big soft spot for her) ,lol. i couldn't find any shots with the lights on so i posted you can see the floods on the outside

I've been looking at the RI Hyper-Spot lights too!

The big deciding factor will be what kind of driving you will be doing, for the most part (rock crawling, average trail riding, high speed desert stuff). The flood pattern Dually's don't really put out a ton of light, all the lights your looking at will be significantly brighter.

I think the 10" Hyperspot might be too narrow of a beam (without any additional driving beam pattern lights), and you would be better off with the standard spot (which still might be too narrow) or even the driving light pattern (your best bet in that size). The 20" open's up your options, and you can get the E Series combo, or E2 combo that has both hyper spot, and driving (the best of both worlds). While it's not cheap, I feel that's your best option and the most amount of useable light.

get some d2 driving pattern lights, they are very nice i just picked some up. if you are quick enough you might be able to jump in on this group buy ends at 12 am

I've been thinking about a pair of spots for my highway truck. Something to reach out further than the stock headlights.

I have decided to stick with a 10" lightbar. I realized that I can drill some new holes and fit a 10" light bar in between the duallys on my ARB bumper. In my opinion, the lower I can mount them, the better, as fog can be a big issue here. This brings up a big plus with the hyperspot. Mounted low, I think its tight beam will do really well in the fog. My floods are useless in the fog (which is to be expected).

According to the beam pattern chart, there doesnt appear to be much difference between the driving and flood patterns. With my dually floods, I'll essentially be creating a combo bar by getting a dedicated spot or hyperspot.

I feel like it'd be a waste if I got a combo bar in addition to my floods.

Thoughts?

I would say it really depends on what you are trying to light up. If you are looking for a set up of lights for night time street driving where speeds are higher, then from my experience you want as much light being sent down the road than spread out. The corners are most actual roads are not sharp enough to really need great width output.
I run a Rigid 20" SR series light bar on the bumper with a pair of Dually's on my homemade pillar mounts. I had the Spot pattern in the Dually's, and I had them aimed towards the ditch, which provide a good width of light while mostly sending it down the road. I recently swapped these out with the Hyperspot Duallys and oh my goodness, much brighter and more concentrated.
I think that having since you have you Dually floods providing some width, a Hyperspot Bar would provide a great projection down the road.
