Rim/Tire size questions?

I have an '03 Limited 4WD V8 (bought it used). It came with the TRD 17" (17 x 7 1/2) rim slapped with BFG KO AT 265/70/17s. And my spare tire has a 17" (17 x 7 1/2) rim with Bridgestone Dueller HT 265/65/17. I found a sticker on my driver's side door that says something like "This vehicle is equipped with 265/70/16s. My 1st question is: Is there a 16" rim for this SUV to have 265/70/16 tires? My 2d question is: Can you mount 16" tires on 17" rims?

I bought 4 used TRD 17" (17 X 7.5) rims. My 3d question is: Is this the same size/pattern with my (17 x 7 1/2)?

1) I looked at the Google Machine at the Internets and 2003 Limited's came stock with 265/16's. it looks like 17x7.5's came std on the Sport Models. So my guess is that it originally came with the 16's (hence the sticker), and previous owner upgraded or dealer changed it presale. There could be more possibilities then these of course.

2) You can NOT mount a 16'' tire on a 17'' rim

3) YES, 17x7.5 = 17x7 1/2 since 0.5=1.2

2003-05 Limiteds have always had 17" 5-spoke wheels, which are optional on the SR5. The design is the same as the second gen Tacoma with the TRD Sport package. The standard tire size is 265/65R17. Many have upsized to 265/70R17.

The SR5s come with 16" rims standard, with 265/70R16 tires.

FYI, 265 refers to tread width in millimeters, 65 is the sidewall aspect ratio relative to tread width. R is radial tire. 17 refers to the rim diameter in inches.

Like i said, my spare is 265/65/17. I wonder if it fit down there if i replace it with 265/70/17 so it'll match my 4 tires?
