I have a 2005 ltd 4runner i would like to go from 17" to 18 or 20"
can i do this and what do i do with the low tire pressure gauge warning light.:cheers: :goinposta

You should be able to. I dont know what Toyota used for the tire pressure sender. But if it is in the vale they just need to carry it over to the new wheels.

It's my understanding that they use the wheel speed sensors, to determine if a tire is underinflated.

If a tire is underinflated, it will spin faster to cover the same distance as a fully inflated tire.

so would upping the tire size mess it up?

If it uses tire spin, would going to a 265/70/17 activate the sensor making it think the tire pressure was off from the factory size of 265/65/17? Or does it detect a difference between the tires to get set off?

The Low pressure warning light is the actual valve on the tire, you either buy a new set ($$$) or just transfer the stock valves to the new rims.

I was a little vague in my post.

I should have said that some manufacturers have stated they would use the wheel speed sensors to determine if a tire was running low.

I didin't actually know what system Toyota is using.
