It's broke, not brock. Who has set up the diff after its been broken in the past? Don't go there again. So what has actually happened? Are you stripping teeth? Breaking the pinion shaft?

The teeth strip on both the ring and pinion I can't spell but I am not stupid the first time it happened I thought it was a fluke so I got it fixed and when it broke again I thought it must be the install so I had the Toyota teck do it and after 2000 miles it broke again so we tried having the gears heat treated by Boby Longfild and those broke after 2000 miles as well so we talked to some more people and found that if we tightened the carrier Barings it could stop some of the flex of the axel housing and prolong the life of the gears. We did this and the gears lasted just over 6000 miles I have looked on some of the Tacoma forums and some of them have had the same problem. All the people that have had this problem have had 3 things in common supercharger, bigger tires, and a manual transmission. I know of one other 4runner that has had the problem and he ended up swapping for a dana 60 that is what I think I will need to do but it coasts so much I thought I would see if anyone on here know something I did not .

well this is the way i fixed it (tera 60) if you have had this happen to you fill free to ask me any thing i would be glad to help.

So you are saying you put in a Teraflex 60 complete? Still 4:56 gears? I'm not surprised it blows rear ends, have you had it dynoed for actual rear wheel horsepower and torque? I'll bet it's a lot more than the stock rear end was designed to take plus turning those big meats.

yes I put the teraflex 60 on it but in order to keep my abs we used the bearing pakes from my old axil and had custom shafts made becouse the sencers are there in the bearing pakes. i have not had it dynoed on a proper dyno but I had it done on an Auterra unit befor the pullys and fans and it sead 225 at the wheels but I am excited to get it done professionally. when I do I will post some pics of it .

I am not sure it would be HP or TQ related since the Toyota 8" rear end has been used behind 400-500+ HP engines without issues. Or just on the torque side of the house alone behind dual t-cases with ultra deep gears and tires in the 37-40" range. That is one of the great things of the Toyota light truck with a rear -end comparable to most 1-ton rear-ends on the market.
