ripped the 4wd toggle out while changing out my radio

So I'm thinking im going to get a toggle switch instead of trying to find a new button and shifter and stuff. does anyone know how the wiring works for that particular option? is the circut closed when 4wd is on? can anyone give me some insight?

I got a 97 with the limited package. And yes, It's an automatic

So you ripped out the 4wd button from the 4wd shift lever?

yeah. I fixed it.
installed a switch next to my parking break. works great. gonna get a wood 4x4 shifter
