Ripping out the 3rd row seating in 2011 Limited

I am going to rip out the 3rd row seat in my limited because I want more head room for my dog and also to lower the base as the seats folded down add about 5" to 6"

Has anyone here done this?

I think I will need to replace some of my side panels as they are molded for the 3rd row seat. Feel free to share your thoughts if you have done this?

yeah it should just unbolt but I will need to replace some of the panels as they are made for the higher floor. I guess I will find out when I take them out.
 
I think it would all transfer over. I took it apart last night and I would need to change the side panels to make it a clean look so I put it all back in. I just would love the extra head room for my dog.

We'll see what I do, I may see if I can find someone that would trade parts.
 
That must be one big dog. My last lab was so big he sometimes stood on the centre armrest with his head out the sunroof, ears flapping in the wind, drooling, in complete heaven despite the obvious dangers.
 
I have a American Rottie that is taller than most and he needs a little head room. He is the reason I went back to the 4runner as he loves to hang his head out the back window. Unfortunately all Limited models comes with the 3rd row seating.

My limited does not have the 3rd row. Unless I'm mistaken, that's optional on all trim levels. (Perhaps this is a canadian version?) It was optional on my 2010. Just fyi...
 
Any interest in selling the 3rd row seat you took out? We are looking at putting one in. Is if forward or backward facing? I know you can buy backward facing online. Also, what color is the fabric?

Where can you buy the backward facing ones online? Can you provide a link.
 
I sold my 3rd row seats to another member on the forum.

If you look at my build thread (the pictures are outdated), I built a storage box in the back that goes as high as the trim so I did not have to change the side panels.

We did find out that:
1) the holes to mount the seats are compatible
2) You need to drill holes to fit the fit the seat belts since the models with w/o the 3rd row seats do not have the holes present.
3) you can swap the rear upper mouldings without any issue

As for pictures, I do not have any of the seats installed, just what is included in my build thread

I am picking up my new 2011 4Runner tommorow and I would have loved to have the Trail Edition back with the sliding gear tray but it was not offered as an option for me...I have the 3rd row seating - I too have a big dog and could have used the extra space....keep us informed on the swap!
 
Has anyone actually swapped the third row seating into a TE yet? Brother is headed onto the island with his wife in a few months and I would like to do this so they do not have to get a rental.
