road noise deadening?

Newer vehicles workaround the issue of weight by utilizing active noise cancellation. "listen" to the ambient noise levels and pipe in an opposing soundwave to make it sound quieter.
My headphones does this with remarkable results.. I actually found it more comfortable to listen to music and podcasts with noise cancellation while on a casual 2 day drive to Florida than connecting to the car speakers in the 4th gen. Not sure if there is anything aftermarket that can mimic that technology on an affordable scale.

2004 V6 SR5 Decibel Readings
Thanks OP, this is a great thread. I took some decibel readings, as well, found below.
I've put about 600 miles on a 2004 4WD Sr5 that I recently purchased. I am coming from DDs being a 2010 Subaru Forester and a 2014 Rav 4.
I noticed how loud my cabin is at almost all times, especially from 50mph-65mph with the A/T tires on there. I believe the G105's is what the seller had on there. No lift. I haven't run A/T tires on anything I've owned but have been in friend's cars and have heard the noticeable tire noise, so that was somewhat expected.
Being an audio engineer for a living, I'm fairly sensitive to white noise and extraneous sounds. The rest of the car is solid, sound great (like nothing lol) going over bumps, etc. I simply didn't expect the cabin to be so loud from the tires, ha! They may be a bit worn, so I'm hoping new tires reduce it a bit.
Now if I thought my truck was loud, hearing one of you sit in the 90dB range is crazy... So I guess I shouldn't be too concerned. 90dB is crazy loud for being in a vehicle.
Idle: 46-50 dB
Surface Streets (0-55 mph): 60-65 dB
Freeway (55-80mph): 71-72 dB
These were read with the "most accurate" decibel meter you can get for an iPhone. Unfortunately, I don't have a real decibel meter on hand at this moment, but I will borrow my editor's the next time he comes in for work and let you know if these numbers stand.
