Roadtrip MPG's

I'm getting ready to take the beast on a roadtrip from Missouri to Texas this weekend and I'm just wondering how many MPG's do you guys normally get out of your V-6's? I normally drive around 75MPH's. Thanks for any input

On my trip to Kansas from Atlanta the second week of September I averaged 21-22 mpg driving 70-75 mph. One tank averaged 19 mpg because of crosswinds in Oklahoma.

I would think your best mpg would come at about 55-60. But who wants to go that slow?

I got some bigger tires so my mpg is a bit off.

I recently took a long trip with my 2005 SR5 V6 4x4, and kept a log of the miles versus gallons for the entire journey. (Of course, I keep my fuel records all throughout the year on both vehicles.)

I drove 70 to 75 mph (with short sprints of 75 to 80) from Virginia to Michigan back in August......and my actual fuel comsumption was about 19 to 20 mpg; with the A/C on the whole time. Not bad at all, considering the EPA rating is 17 city/21 highway -- under easy, ideal conditions at much lower speeds.

I figured it using actual gallons used by total miles driven. The trip computer is about 1.5 to 2 mpg on the optimistic side, so you cannot go by what it says.

Anyway, if you purchased a 4Runner for "economy" purposes, you probably bought the wrong vehicle.
:p

I typically get low to mid 20's with my 2004 V6 at that speed without anything on the roof and without bikes on the back. Only mod is a K& N air filter.

Just finished a 1700-mile trip to Illinois. Including the crosswinds, 10% ethanol fuel in Illinois, hills on I-55 on the way to St. Louis, lots of construction, a couple of 30-minute backups, and a few days of city driving only. I still got around 20 mpg overall. Not bad on a set of Revos.

Because the state police tend to be very efficient along the route, I kept to the posted speed limits using the cruise control.
