Roady XT XM Radio

Hello All,

I purchased a Roady XT over the weekend for my 06 4R. If anybody has pics, or can take a few and post of where you've mounted this unit, please do so. I've heard of some mounting them in the sunglass holder, but I don't see how that would work with this particular unit.

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but here is how I installed my Roady XT. I first was using the wireless FM transmitter built into the unit, but I couldn't ever find a FM station that didnt have some static bleeding over from another station. I did use the casette tape adapter included and the sound was great but I hated the all the wires showing. So I got the wired FM adapter that runs inline with the 4Runner's FM antenna that hooks to the back of the radio head unit. This makes the look alot cleaner.

It also included a 12v power hookup that I spliced into the radios wiring harness. It hooked to the "switched power" wire that powers the radio. The FM adapter fit in the dash behind the head unit and I left the power plug hook up in the glove box for easy access. Previously I had the power cord for the Roady just plugged in the 12v outlet by the shifter and that too was an unsightly cord that I got rid of with this install. I think it looks good, especially considering how cheap the Roady XT's sell for these days.

Where did you get the power adapter and inline antenna setup?

Did you have to take the dash apart?

Got the kit from Crutchfield. CLICK HERE

Power adapter comes with it. Yeah I had to take the dash apart to get the radio out. I've got the dash disassembly instructions from Crutchfield if your interested. I'm sure they are posted on here somewhere though. Took me about an hour to install. Splicing the power wires took the longest.
