from what I can see, and unless I skipped over something in the reading.... that part is useless.
The cheaper way to do this is by 2 methods...
the "professional" way....
Get a cig lighter plug adapter from radio shack. Its basically the thing a cig lighter plugs into. It should have 2 wires coming from the back. 1 wire is positive, 1 wire is negative. Those hook to a +/- wire in your car. Plug your satellite radio power adapter into it, and you've got the exact same thing as what they are showing.
the even cheaper way...
First off you'll need speaker wire, or atleast 2 separate wires...Now strip back both wires about an inch. Take one and stick it through the ground side on your adapter...Now take electrical tape and wrap it around so that the wire doesn't come loose. Now with the other wire, push in on the tab on the top and sort of cram the wire down into the adapter. It doesn't have to go in much, just enough so that it touches really. Now tape it as well. And now once again you have the same thing...for much less than $25.

Oh yea, and if you're unit says "12V" on the side of it, you can cut off your adapter plug all together. Just test to see which wire is positive and which is negative coming from the adapter. The wire should be black and black/white. It used to be where black/white was negative, but I've been installing a few lately where black/white is positive. If you don't have anything to to test with then you can always rip the adapter apart and see where each wire goes to. but the only time you need that adapter is when a unit says something other than 12V.

I hard wired my RoadyXT in using THIS (CLICK HERE) adapter. I did have to remove the dash to install the FM adapter, but that was so I could get better sound quality out of the radio. The included 12v power socket could be wired in without removing the dash, just remove the shifter cover to expose the 12v power wiring there. Its easy to hook to the switched power wire feeding that.

How much of a difference did that Crutchfield kit make in the recpetion of your XM? I have a Myfi and your right, no matter what station your on there is always a dead spot or static. I really love my XM but I need it to be clearer. I listen to channel 48 and it seems as though sometimes it has a "hollow" sound to it. I think that kit you used would clear that up. Any other info you have would be much appreciated too. Feel free to PM or Email me if youd rather not respond here. Thanks in advance!

It made a noticable difference. Not as good as the cassette tape adapter but close. There is no static at all now. I think it does weaken the reception of the FM stations in your area, especially the smaller stations that dont have high wattage transmission. The major FM stations still pick up the same. I have noticed when I power off the roadyXT the reception goes back to normal though. Since I got XM I never listen to local radio anymore so it doesnt bother me.
Hey Fyremin, taking apart the dash to get the radio out is really pretty simple. The instructions that I got from Crutchfield are a snap to follow. I had the radio out in about 5 minutes. The hardest part of the install was splicing into the existing power wires, they are pretty thin and I was afraid of cutting them in two. Let me know if you want the instructions to take a look at.

I spliced in to the radio wire harness. Positive went to the "Switched Power" (gray/black) and Negative went to the "Ground" (brown) wire in the harness.
