Roaring Noise from fan on 95 4R

My 95 4Runner sounds super loud when I am accelerating. Its almost like the engine is being revved really high. It sounds like the roar of the wind, which made me think it was the fan / fan clutch.

I think the fan clutch is locking up more than it should, even though it still spins somewhat freely.

I took the fan off to see how the noise changed. It sounds perfect now. Quieter than my 95 Expedition. Before it was louder than the Expedition.

Do the Gen 2 4Runners have really loud fan noise?

I don't have any overheating issues, before I took the fan off that is. For my quick test, I had no problems sitting at idle either.

So should I try a new fan clutch or do I just have to suffer from a loud fan?

yes, its not just you. You could look in to electric fans if that bothers you although I don't thing the benefits will out weigh the cost and what now
