I love Moab. I honestly don't spend a lot of time on TW but I will look at when the meet is. We definitely want to do a Moab run in 2015. I just hope that Rockdawg will be up and running but it would be great to have Smokey there as well. I don't want body damage but I sure don't worry about scraping a skid plate. LOL I would love to go out and wheel with you though:biggrin1:

I hope to have my own trail rig up and running by that time, if not, hopefully i'll be on 35s by then to compensate at least a little bit.

I'm hoping to attend the TW Moab event with my '87. I cannot commit 100% at this point though. Hopefully I will have the $$$ saved, that's a lot of gas money for me.

So I have a new update. Yesterday I had a friend texted me with a listing for a 1989 SR5, 5 speed and I convinced my wife that we needed to get a new Rockdawg4.0 LOL . She agreed and $1500 latter it followed me home.

I'm excited about this build and will be happy to document it here. My oldest son will turn 10 in December and so I figure I can complete a build in a mear six years. He will be working along side me and it will be his first car.

So the basic plans are to:

Get is mechanically sound.
- will get rebuilt 22re that is in pieces in the shed. Decked block, Engbldr
ported head, bored .30 over. Schneider cam and stand alone wiring and
ECM as the wiring is 30 years old and pretty crusty. DT TriY header.
- Dual Cases. 2.3 /2.3
- AC will be in full working order
- will be retrofitting Cruise Control

Suspension:
- front SAS Tacoma width. unsure if we will do leafs or links. but will have
Elocker and gears
- Rear 4th gen Elocker Axle.
So will have disc Brakes all the way around.

The top is pretty beat up and the rear wiper assembly is missing so will probably get a Killer Toy top for the rear.

Then paint and body work. If I can get ambitious I would love to stretch the rear finderwells and be able to move the rear axle back aprox 10" instead of doing a bob. Front will move forward aprox 2 inches.

Interior will get a deep clean and will eventually get the seats reupholstered and new carpet.

Mostly I want a truck that is clean and will be reliable for him without to much power. This fits the bill perfectly. This will be slow but I will be updating here as we go.

update. Well we have been playing and getting things cleaned up and running better. My son and I have replaced the radiator and cleaned up the intake with a new TB gasket and basic tune up. Runs pretty good but still leaks a lot and so we will continue to build the new motor. Today we finished two projects that are worthy of some pics. LOL. first is that we got a sweet front grill on thanks to [MENTION=90132]ajohnson[/MENTION] and his inspiration. and secondly we finally got some matching wheels and tires. Nothing to special but I think the FJ Cruiser wheels look great for now.

Added another 1st gen to the Stable today. An 88, SR5, 3.0, 5speed, bone stock and super complete. Even all the interior trim is there. Only options that it doesnt have are sunroof and inclinometer. Someone has swapped the front seats with nonSR5 seats so I will be doing another swap with some 2nd gen front sr5 seats. Has a blown motor so a 3.4 swap is probably in its future.
