My vote is for monsterliner. You could do your rocker panels with a quart. It rolls or sprays. It can be black or a number of other colors but it is very rock resistant. It took a rock the size of a ping pong ball to chip at 75mph. It came off the back of a dump truck and all it did was kinda take a nick out of the paint. I saw it coming and there wasn't anywhere I could go.

I do have rock sliders. But I'd like to have little protection from salt and dirt.

I see your whole truck is finished in this product. How are you liking it ? Did you do it your self ? Why the whole.truck ? How long ago did you do it ?Do you need special prep chemicals ? Does look.badass !!!

I guess you can even use it on a frame ??Since we in this do conversation, what would you recommend for frame ? I found a post on google about your truck. And you sprayed your frame. Just didn't see with what ? How is that holding up ?!!

To protect the frame I use fluid film undercoating kit. You can go onto fluid film.com to buy the kit which includes a gallon of undercoat, the spray gun, a can of spray with a 2' hose that sprays 360 degrees, and a small brush. It's about 80 bucks shipped. I had a spot on my frame repaired 3 years ago and used fluid film right after, and no new problems. You do need to remove loose paint and scale prior to applying. I drilled holes in my sills and sprayed inside the rockers. Bolts and fasteners will come out easier because this lubricant penetrates metal. This is usually applied each year.

So far I really like it. Most people don't even notice the different finish till they are within 15 ft or so. Much smoother texture than some of the rattle can products out there. I did spray the whole truck myself. Two days of prep for about 3 hours worth of work.

Main reason for the whole truck was I needed a paint job anyway and I live out in the desert so really intense sun and a ton of rock chips are a daily thing. Plus i was quoted at 2k to repair my paint and I did this for a little over 700 with everything included. I've had the paint on for about a year now and it still looks amazing....provided I wash it. It also hides dirt really well.

No special chemicals are needed beyond some acetone to clean the surface. All you have to do is break the clearcoat up to give the paint something to stick to. Make sure you have a mask though. Otherwise you'll be starring in fear and loathing in Las vegas.

Here's a link to my writeup on it. I have a few good friends who hooked me up but for rocker panels you can do that in your driveway. Won't hurt a thing. Bedliner is different from your typical paint as it can hide dust flecks if it fest on your clean surface.

For the frame I used chassis coat by magnet paints(same guys that do monstaliner) and this stuff is harder than rock. I'm sure you can damage it but it's good for painting the frame. Rust is not a huge issue here though.

For something a little more complete I like what [MENTION=57676]T4Rscott[/MENTION] did. Is that a wax type product or ?? Very interested as I might need something like this in the future if I move back east.

Chassis coat, it can go over a none rusted frame.right ? Did you manage to get the top part of the frame under.the body. ? Where did u order the product for frame ?

Isn't monstaliner a bedliner ?

im sorry it isnt chassis coat. Its called chassis saver but it can go over rust I believe but make sure you scrub it down first really well.

Yes monstaliner is bedliner and everything you can order from monstaliner.com. magnet paints are the guys who do monstaliner. It's just that monstaliner attracts way more attention than magnet paints.....or at least that's what I figure.

I was not able to get it on top of the frame but I will do that later when I do a body lift. The top of the frame doesn't get a lot of exposure to anything imo. The procedure for getting it coated up there would be the same as a body lift. You would need some really tall jacks near the body mount points and that's about it.

It's a lanolin based lubricant that is safer than applying motor oil or ATF.
 
If I ever get around to it I have a Raptor bedliner kit I plan on using on my rockers, lower door jambs, lower door panels, lower fenders, and along the lower part or my quarters. I used it on my rear body panel and it's pretty tough until someone hits you at 40mph and even then it holds up well. Comes in black or a tintable version you add whatever color base coat you want. My buddy used the tint version on his '71 Bronco we restored, tinted with the same bright white paint used on the rest of his truck but it was slightly yellow fyi if you are tinting a lighter color.
 
I have a gallon of fluid film sitting. Going to coat under the car once everything is neatly painted.

I did my front and rear bumpers in raptor. Also my roof rack , skid plate and hitch. The hitch and skid plate came out best. Other stuff, the rack and bumpers, did to but It chips to easy in my expierence. And I'm liking the rough texture of monstaliner, so I think I'll be getting that and doing the rocker panels in that. Although I still have 1 bottle of raptor bedliner.

The monstaliner, is a roll on ? How does it roll on as in, is it even coat ? Also is the chassis saver a roll on to ??
 
I have also used raptor liner and paint it to match. I have done this to multipal trucks. UV light or pealing has not been a problem.

I have kept one for myself. It is white and has only been on the truck for about a year. I picked this up from a buddy of mine who owns a body shop. I fix and sell many vehicles a year, no complaints yet. It has been about Four years on my Buddy's Chevy that I see on a regular basis and no problems there.
 
A side note I use DuPont automotive paint. As long as the paint prep work is clean so that the pant sticks the greatest determination of uv resistance is going to be the paint and not so much the base material as long as they are compatible.

you can do either with monstaliner actually. I have worked with raptor liner and found the same as you when it scratches. So far I haven't had any of that with the monstaliner. I do know it is more flexible than the raptor when cured. Since I was doing the whole truck I ordered the whole sample set from them so I could find the exact shade I wanted. You could fold the samples in half and the monstaliner would start to split but was not rigid by any means.

I personally liked the spray better but it rolls in very even coats as well. I did my fenders and I did another guys rocker panels as a side job and I rolled his as well. monstaliner comes out smooth but you can rough it up if you roll over the surface while it is drying.

You can spray chassis coat but I used a foam brush and it did great. My frame came out looking better than new. I did two coats and can attest to its toughness. I had to wait for the paint to come off my skin. It was impossible to get off after it dried even with acetone (long sleeves and pants recommended lol)
 
Jtree I missed the fact that you were painting over the liner. I'd agree, there shouldn't be any problem with UV fading with an automotive grade paint.

I think roll on would be easier since I have sliders close to the rocker panels. But I want a rough texture on the rocker panels. How would you rough it if you rolled.
