Well, there's certainly more gusseting in those photos than what I could see from the other one. I just can't wrap my head around the 1" tubing holding that weight, gussets or not. I know I've heard one of the big name fab shops (Addicted I think?) mentioned that gussets don't stop the metal from deflecting, and that was with gussets on the 1.5" tubing for the legs that are welded to the scab plate on most sliders.

I dunno, just thinking out loud I guess. Maybe some more first hand users will chime in with their experience to give you a better idea of their actual performance.

I'm not advocating for these particular sliders, don't know anything about the brand and the pictures don't give much detail. Having said that, my #7000 FJ62 has bolt on rock sliders. And I do super hard wheeling with it. Welding is not stronger than bolting, in fact unless you really know what you are doing welding is inherently weaker. The weld itself is not the problem, the material right next to the weld is. Not going to get in to that(Metallurgy topic) right now, but suffice to say I have LESS than 1/2" of clearance and they don't move. They are made of DOM and plate, and are properly gusseted. I also installed spacers through the frame so as not to compress the rails when bolting it on. 8 bolts per side, grade 8, 7/16" diameter.

Huh, interesting. Mostly was just an assumption on my part, which was clearly wrong. TIL! In that case, yes, these sliders look pretty solid...

It looks bigger than 1" to me, maybe inch and a 1/4? Also 3/16" is really overkill. I have .120 wall on mine and they hold much more weight.

EDIT, I meant to ask this question and since no one else has. What are they bolting to? Pre-existing threaded holes? If so I like it! I had to drill 16 holes through BOTH sides of my frame rails. Took me like 19 years! OK maybe a day and a half, but I still don't want to do it again.

I've ordered from RRO before when I owned a Samurai and as stated already, customer service sucks and product quality isn't that great. Everyone in the Zuk community avoids them like the plague.

Just a heads up, rocky road outfitters is renowned for their bad customer service . Personally they warrantied one item for me ( coil spring spacers ) and did nothing about a track bar that wore out in 6 months .

Agreed. A buddy had their 3-link kit on his Samurai, and when he tore the Y-link at the weld, they told him to pound sand. We cut the welded junction in half and you could see the serious lack of weld penetration. My buddy is a certified welder and used to be an industrial fabricator, so I know he's qualified to make that assessment.

Anyway, I'd be wary of a lifetime guarantee.

Why are the gussets on the side? How does that prevent the slider from flexing up towards the body? Take a look a BAMF, Stubbs & Savage they all look great for the price.

I have these on my rig, they were added by the PO. They do fit very tight to the body using these to step on is almost impossible. They have handled well and I have used it to lift with a highlift multiple times. I do agree the brackets are small and at least visually don't give much to feel strong about, I believe the way they are gapped ect. the design was based on having less cross bars to catch on rocks. Otherwise they have held up well and I do wheel her a good bit. As I'm looking at changing all of my armor soon and adding my body lift to have the new armor match, I will most likely go with a different design. Lastly bolting to the pinch and frame does give much more body support and helps to keep it rigid.. I haven't found that to cause any issues.
