Rolled 3 times and walked out without a scratch

Hey. It has been awhile since my last post. A year ago I got an 03 V8 runner for my 18th birthday. This was after spending two years with a 1999 4 cylinder. You can imagine how much i enjoyed the V8. But on Sunday, Feb. 27, I was driving from Dallas to Abilene to go back to school. Here comes the sad part, the next thing I remeber ,after about 2 1/2 hours of driving, is waking up the car, flipped on its side. It was a miracle that I climbed out myself without a scratch on me. I was traveling on I20 going about 75. I fell aslepp hit a gaurdrail and rolled 3 times. Like I said a miracle. Obivousily i was extremely impressed with the way the car held up. Anyways, I m going to replace it with another 4runner and I was wondering if anybody can give any insight on the differences between a V6 and V8 in 03s. My parents will probably make me replace it with a V6 and I was wondering how much I will miss the V8. Thanks for the help sorry so long.

Wow, glad you are ok. I don't know why a V6 would be safer for you to drive then the V8. Anyone can fall a sleep when driving, but I bet you will never do that again. Post some pic's of what is left of your 4runner so we can see the noble beast that gave it's life to protect your's.
 
Ok I will try to post some pictures next week, although i dont know how.
It is not bc of the wreck.I just think they think I should not have so much power. They wished that they would have bought a V6 in the first place
 
haha......glad you're okay, but in regards to your parents wanting to get you a V6 because it's has less power, I can go 75mph in my V6 too. The issue isn't power here. You're not some crazy kid going 110+ mph. You were tired and fell asleep (which is about as dangerous as drunk driving), but I'm sure you learned your lesson. Glad you came out of it okay. :)
 
I'm glad to hear you came out okay. Did you have the curtain airbags?

I don't think you'll notice too much of a difference with the V6 under normal driving but you'll probably miss having the torque and the smoothness of the V8 under certain conditions.
 
Glad your ok - very luck to have such supportive paretns as well. Now sure the average parents would be so kind. Count your blessings.

When I was 18 I had a 1974 orange VW bug my parents got new in 74 and was given to me after my sister went to college. I was just glad not to ride the cheese wagon to school any more. Don't think my parents would have replaced it if I put in on it's lid.
 
Glad your OK too you are lucky, Next time coffee or coke ,radio up and if you feel sleepy, window down or pull over and take a cat nap.

Tell Mom and Dad a 4cyl can do 75mph too.

I wonder if it is a insurance issue also.
 
Did the police charge with you anything? In Canada you would have picked up a careless driving charge at a minimum - which would send your insurance premiums into the stratosphere and could take your licence off you.

Both the V6 and V8 are still SUVs and are more susceptible to rolling than the average sedan - that is the biggest risk with an SUV not the power under the hood, as you now know.
 
To answer yalls questions- No I did not have the side curtain airbags. My parents dont think that the V8 caused the wreck I was just saying that now that they have the oppurtunity to replace it they probably will cause of power and gas mileage. No one else was hurt. I was the only person in the car and I was the only car invovled. No the police did not charge me with anything. I ll try to post some pic this weekend or later this week
 
Wow thats weird... I waited in traffic for 20 minutes and then I drove past you on I-20 on my way to Lubbock. Your car was MESSED up hardcore. Kinda gave me an eerie feeling to see another black 4runner just like mine totaled. Glad you're ok.
 
NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO ASK YOUR PARENT FOR A NEW PORSCHE CAYENNE TRUBO! AND ITS ONLY A V6! I HERE THEY ARE PRETTY FAST AND COME WITH AUTO DRIVE :D
