Roof Basket

I'm looking to buy a roof basket but have no idea what to go with. I want something cheap and I don't care what it looks like, looking to use if for it's function and not to show off.

Better off buying a cheap one, the homemade ones I have seen have all looked like crap and prob wouldn't hold over 10 pounds. Some guys got decent baskets at Costco for under $100.
 
the costco racks were by coleman but i haven't seen them available for a while now.
good racks if you can find one. they were $75 and mines been holding up well for a few years now.
 
i love my rola basket, it was cheaper and looks good too imo, they do make an extension for about $65 that i am betting very soon, the basket is tall enough to hold stuff in but not too tall

Mine is homemade and it will hold anything you wanna put on it, its built 10x stronger than any other basket ive seen maybe besides the arb, gobi or bajarack but ive got 50 dollars in it
 
can't forget about yakima. i have the load warrior with the extension. i got the original basket used and installed the extension this spring. it's always held up.
 
I've got a Rola that I'm very happy with. It was easy to install and seems pretty rugged. At least for what I'll put it through. I got it through etrailer.com when they had a special on it.

really?!? where have you been looking, ive seen a lot of guys with home made rack(some on runner and others on other vehicles). i have one, some pics of it are in my album, i dare say that it will hold anything you you can put up there. the rood will buckle long before the rack will. as long as you can weld and know what you are doing making you own can be fun and much cheaper than buying one, and when you make your own you get exactly what you want and need.
 
I have not seen your basket Kid, nor have I seen YC4Runner's basket(haven't seen many guys on here posting pics of homemade baskets) have seen a few while driving around and a few others that looked like they were done with scrap sheet metal. Might as well put a steel shopping cart on top of your roof rather than go with a flimsy "ghetto rigged" job. If your good at welding and know what your doing its one thing....

Not sure why your pressing this hard, there is nothing cheap about that offer - probably why nobody has joined the group buy.....?

I have seen complete Gobi basket and extenders for $175 on Craigslist, Im waiting to find one closer to $100 if not its really not high on my priority list...

heres a pic that shows it best... you will buckle the roof before that rack gives, now granted i way over built it and its too heavy for what i wanted(my fault, next one i will use thinner wall tubing and eliminate that tube down the middle, and not cover my sun roof but still its way stronger than anything else on the market)
 
where are you located... shipping would be a ***** its kinda heavy and it doesnt break down unless you have a hack-saw lol
