Roof mounted CB's

Hey guys.

I have a 99 limted 4R. Im interested in getting a CB radio, but there is not alot or room inside the cabin to install one. A buddy of mine drive a '01 tacoma and he mounted his on the ceiling and he suggested i do the same. I am open to all opinions, comments and suggestions. Thanks to all

If you have the sunroof / moonroof combo it will be hard find a place to mount one on the roof. The three most popular CB types and locations are as follows:

Cobra WSX18- Mounted under stereo( Single DIN) unless you have a double(DIN) height radio

Cobra 19 or Uniden PC510XL- Mounted in Ashtray location ( downside you loose ashtray)

Cobra 75WSX- has hidden box with channel and volume controls built into the MIC. Just need to figure out where to hide the box and have access to connector for the MIC/handset.

I do have the sunroof so i guess roof mount is out. Thanks for the suggestions thought. Very very helpful

go to audio section and there is an install of a 75 in there and I believe in either the of-road section or audio section there is a thread on Need to buy a CB. Can see picture of the 18 mounted next to the radio. Slee off road .com has a right up of the 19 in the ashtray location

i have the cobra 19 and mounted it between the steering wheel and radio. I wired it to be portable so it is plugged in to the cigarette charger, and I ran the antenna cable under the driver's side door sill trim and up the pillar, out the passenger door even with just past the moon roof. I have a magnetic roof mounted antenna.

I got a Cobra 19. I bought some WalMart velcro and mounted it to the windshield, just right of the stereo. The antenna cable follows the dash/windshield groove and is completely hidden. I used to have it Velcroed to the glove box lid, but after heavy jarring from off roading and high interior temps, it tended to want to fall off.

i got this uniden cheap but of course the good ones are huge
