So today I went and test drove an 04' V8 4runner I am looking at and noticed something I figured i'd ask those who own a 4th gen. As we started our test drive it started raining pretty heavily and the rain hitting the roof was loud!! Not your normal sounding heavy rain on a vehicle roof, it sounded like rain pounding on a tin roof; very obnoxious . It was loud enough that I could not even hear my brother talking to me in the back seat.
My question is, being that i've never driven a 4th gen 4runner before, do any of you who own one have this issue?? Is it so obnoxiously loud you can't carry on a conversation with someone in the back seat during a rain storm? My g/f has a little toyota and recently had her roof panel replaced due to hail damage and hers sounds the exact same way, loud and annoying, before she had it replaced it was fine, no issues.
Is there a chance that some sort of sound deadening material was not placed between the headliner and roof? Thanks for the help.
