This is not the case, as clearly you have a vested interest in what's going on. Regardless of who you are, you lost all credibility of all your posts claiming to be impartial when that detail about the IP address surfaced. Frankly, at this point, you're doing more harm than good for your cause.

So your join date is 8/20/15, the same day as all 23 of your posts, which are all conveniently in this thread and this thread only. Your IP address is identical to GOBI/ID2000/Paul Bedillo/Sandra Martinez. You don't list your location, which is presumably Aurora, Colorado, because that would have tipped us off that you were connected to GOBI somehow. Instead you list yourself as an Army Brat when you probably aren't, which irks me having grown up as an Army Brat myself.
As far as I am concerned GOBI has lost any sort of future business from me for good. I have a sour taste in my mouth and I didn't even have to be lied to about my shipping date, or anything else about a product like so many members on here have been. I can't believe the way that this has been handled on GOBI's part. I hope that this all backfires on GOBI in a tremendous way, and every time I log on here it looks like it will more and more.
Being a small business owner myself and an inherently good person I have to say that I will support Whitson all the way through this, because I can't stand people/companies like GOBI.

Do you not see the problem here? Regardless of what you say at this point, it is known you're an associate of Gobi. You can claim impartiality all you'd like, but you represented yourself as someone who just so happened to stumble on this thread from a Google search while posting on the same connection as Paul and the official Gobi account. Whether you intended to or not, you're doing a fantastic job of painting Gobi in a bad light.

Subscribed. This thread is like Judge Judy, Jade Helm and Days of Our Lives all rolled into one thread about roof racks! Post #260 was just the plot twist we needed. I fully expect someone to go into a coma in the next page or two!
Curiously enough, I had been doing research on which rack to buy for my 4th Gen and had narrowed it down to Gobi's Stealth Rack and the WMW rack. This thread has provided great info their differences. So thanks to everyone who has done so much research. The racks are definitely different.
I do have 2 questions and 1 comment for the masses though:
1. Who is Amanda??? Momo keeps using the name and I can't figure out what he's implying or who he's talking about.
2. Isn't a patent about protecting an idea you created rather than a product you produce? I really thought you could patent something and never produce it. If that's the case, then WMW could be in violation of the patent even though the racks are different. I looked on the patent office's page, but couldn't find anything confirming or disproving my thoughts.
Comment: Just because a company is Goliath (and with 26 employees, Gobi has to be the world's smallest "Goliath") and has some shady practices doesn't make them legally wrong. And just because WMW is David doesn't make him legally right. Is our legal system flawed? Absolutely. But it's the best we have. I will continue to read this thread and pray that the lawyers aren't the only winners out of all this.

Amanda is the name associated with the email address used in the account registration.... It sure is a shame they didn't think that some of us have computer skilz... Oh how elementary of you guys to think that we couldn't do our own digging and investigation... Oh a little FYI, some of us do this for a living, and on a global scale, in the private and other sectors as well... Not that it's any of my business or anything

Its a shame that Josh is tangled up in the lawsuit. He makes a great product and was great to deal with. I hope it works out in a timely manner and everyone that wants to create quality products can do so. Competition is good for everyone.

@WMW I have never seen your products in person but in my short time on this forum it has become my top choice due to my desired function, appearence and price. I have recommended 2 people to check yours out as they research roof racks. My regret is that I wasnt able to get one before this unfortunate hiatus. Good luck.
Although it seems an oxymoron but in the end I wish Gobi well too. You also make a great product. It is unfortunate our community must endure this situation but may it inspire even better products from everyone.

What saddens me is the effect situations like this have on small time inspiration and development. I would like to make my own rack (I have to learn to weld first), others have developed their own bumpers, sliders, fuseboxes, fluid reservoirs etc. Some products turn out with a look only a mother could love, others are both attractive and functional. Some of those start getting produced in a garage and go from there. Every fabricator must perform their due diligence before they produce for sale. If they don't it is on them. We are also human and most of us we are keen in one area, ie the production, and hope to muddle by in others, the bureaucracy. We are also a niche market and eventually the players will rub elbows. It concerns me that the manner with which this situation has unfolded will discourage grass roots innovation for fear of meeting a lethal financial/legal blow. Our creativity is part of what makes this community engaging and enjoyable.

The further I look into this, the more it looks like Gobi is grasping at straws. Looking at the complaint(pages 5 & 6) There are two grainy pictures, not clearly labeled or at anything resembling a similar perspective, and each picture being on a different generation of vehicle, followed by two images from the Gobi patent not clearly labeled as such, instead displayed in a way implying that the one on the left is from WMW and the one on the right is from Gobi. The words that are particularly bothering me are "substantially identical" and "objectively high likelihood that Whitson's actions constituted infringement". What this entire thing reeks of is a blind person throwing haymakers hoping to land the knockout blow.
