Roof Rack ID Help

Greetings everyone. I've got a nice 1999 4Runner, SR5, V6, 2WD and I'm looking for some help in figuring out how to mount a roof system on this beauty.

It has got these two strips (see pic), about 4 feet long on each side. 5 screws per strip. Moon roof up front.

I'd like to get either a cargo basket or cross bars up there, but I think the more basic question is: How do I mount anything to this roof? What is it called / what does it look like?

Whenever I go to look at roof rack systems the focus is often on cross bars and basket options, but not how I would make use of these things to connect that to my roof.

Any help would be appreciated!

You need to acquire a factory rack. You are predrilled but still need the rack/rails to have a channel to mount accessories. Check salvage yards.

Those are just covers for the rack location.

There are used ones on eBay, but the paint didn't hold up well on the rack, so you're probably going to have to paint them to get them looking good. I bought one a new one about a year ago and just trashed the old one.

I've got a '97 rack I took off....in perfect condition.

Awesome, thanks! Local salvage yards are asking $100 or so. I'll go take a look tomorrow, but $200 and change doesn't seem terrible for a factory new one.
