Roof Rack Mounted Driving Lights

Does anyone know how to remove the cross members of the factory roof rack system for an 03 Highlander? I'd like to remove one cross member from my wife's Highlander and install it on my T4R's roof rail system. The two rails the truck comes with are being used for a Thule cargo rack. My thoughts are to install a third rail across the very front and install four (4) Hella FF50 driving lights. Then I can pre-dof the rack system. I can drill the light holes, mount the lights and pre-wire the lights with a quick diconnect connector, before putting it on. I believe I can then run the lighting cables along/under the windshield gasket up to and under the front driver side rail mount and then go along the rack rails. Hope that makes sense.

The only rub I have is figuring out how to get the damn cross rail of my wife's car (She won't even know it's missing).

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a plan, but are the Highlander crossrails the same width as the 4Runner's?

You probably have to pop/pry out the end caps, before you can slide them out.

I measured the Highlander and it's 41-inches in length. The 4runner is 41-1/2-inches in length. There is about an inch of extra on the highlander bar so it should work. Everything else looks identical.

I just don't want mess up the endcaps.
