Roof rack MTB compatible

Aside from a Thule or Yak is there a rack that is compatible with existing mtb mounts? Have yak mounts, but going from truck to 4runner need place for recovery tools, fuel, water and mount for lights.

Bajarack dealer said I would have to make something.

Thanks

I'm a little confused about what you're asking about....are you asking about trays that are compatible with the crossbars on a 4Runner, besides Yakima and Thule? If so - RockyMounts

Hi, Dustin! :hello: Caffiend from the BikeMojo days of ol'...

OP: Sounds like you just need some 1" cross bars. Gobi racks have a couple of fixed or optionally removable bars for that purpose. Depending on your bike mounts it might be trivial to adapt to one of the t-slot style roof racks, or use something like this fork mount.

I second this... assuming that's the question that's being asked. I've had Thule and Yakima bike carriers in the past, and the Rocky Mounts stuff beats them both in my opinion. I'm running Rocky Mounts on my 4R with factory cross bars. Works great.

holy crap. be a long while. i think there's a new fellow on Mojo who goes by Caffiened...or something really close to Caffiend. was wondering if it was you. i just started reading that site a little more frequently. names have changed, but it's still the same entertaining banter.

Dustin,

Looking for a roof rack for offroad gear that is solid like a gobi or baja that I could still use to carry bikes.

Either of those will. It's just a matter of how the trays attach. Gobi and Baja baskets have crossbars. Baja Utility has adapters that will bolt to the 'floor'. K9s will take any assortment of t-slot compatible mounts.

That said, unless you need to pull while also carrying bikes, I'd just get a hitch rack and roof rack of your choice.
