roof rack rails

Hey everyone. My 99 3rd gen didn't come with a factory roof rack. I was thinking of putting a thule rack on, but I have a sunroof, and I think it may sit too far forward. Does anyone have the roof rack rails (not cross bars, think I'll get the thule bars as they hold more weight) ? Am I correct in saying that I can just attack the rails to the two plastic strips down the roof??

I know that Yakima had stock rail clones. You remove the rubber strips and they bolt to the roof.

You remove the plastic strips and reuse the bolts to attach the factory rails. I'm not sure that you can get the rails from the dealer but I found a junkyard that had most of the parts I needed...just bought the plastic endcaps from the dealer which are about $10 each so I'd try to get them from a junkyard too.
