roof rack rattle

anyone experienced a loose roof rack cross member?
the member rattles inside the mount attached to the slide.
the knobs are tighted thoroughly, i stuffed a peice of cardboard into the mount and temporarily stopped the rattle(until it rains)
i searched roof rack rattle and found nothing.
any help is appreciated, sorry no pics.

Try something else

I suggest you remove the crossmembers entirely (both). Then drive a few days and see if the noise is still present. It may be a piece of loose support plastic just under the headliner alongside the driver/passenger door.
I had a very annoying rattle, it sounded like it was coming from the roof, but was in fact a loose piece of plastic under the headliner.
