Roof Rack Special for August

I don't think there is the protection from breaking it and I don't wanna find put the hard way. I was thinking I could make some spacers that lift up the basket part to have full functionality of the sunroof, but well see if I ever do.
The powder coat is wrinkle black.

I also made a quick wind faring. I'll end up making a better one but I was running out of time and I have lots of supplies laying around ( thanks to the parents construction buisness)

when i was looking at doing mine before i added the lights i was going to couture it to match the rack line and make the edges wrap around and attach to the first post around the corner towards the back, i think that would make it look pretty slick, i had a massive piece of cobalt shim stock i was going to cut for it as well to give it a cool color....but there isn't really a good way to have a fairing and lights, maybe if you go light tabs coming fmo the front of the rack you could get a fairing in there and have i look ok, otherwise you need to profile the fairing around the lights and i see that creating loads of wind noise, again though excellent rack and somewhat customizable , so if you want lights and a faring simply ask the guy to reverse the light tabs and your good to go!

also in regards to the sun roof part mine, it tilts fine with the drop in in sunroof bit in there, i did have to adjust the rack forward and back on mine though to make that happen, are you sure the front adjustment bolts as raised enough as well? as that's how i found they were backing out as i started driving and the drop-in bit starting hitting the sunroof glass , adjusting and locking those should give you a bit more clearance for the tilt function on the sun-roof.

Here's my roof rack. I use rattle can paint for it. I got it without the top tube and mesh inside. I also got a front faring pre-painted. I also had it made with a 2" at the lowest point to access the RTT bolts. The rack itself is pretty light but sturdy. Held my tent just fine and drove ~3 hours with no issue. Mounts to factory trails fine. Faring could have been a little bigger to give it a more aggressive look but it works fine and does the job. I also had the mesh sunroof insert just in case for firewood or anything.

My 4r is in the back with a RTT. Didnt get a chance to take a picture but will do that later when I'm back in town.

now I've never thought about it before but do third gens have the same cross bars up top as the second? at least in style. do you unbolt those and bolt the roof rack in their place?
