Roof Rack SUP (stand up paddleboard) help

Looking into a GOBI or Baja rack for my wife's 5th gen. But she has an SUP (11 foot surfboard) and I'm not quite sure how the mounting would work with the rack. Any opinions?

I guess you could pad up the front and back of the rack and then mount the board on it. I specifically bought a set of bars because surfboards are the most predominant thing that I carry up top. I also wanted a setup that was easy to take off when I wasn't using it.

Do you plan on carrying a lot of gear up top? Or is it more for aesthetics?

A little of both. Her 98 limited had a surco on the roof and we used it when going to the beach and what not. I talked to the Baja Rack people and they said that I could get Yakima bars from side to side or I could trim the front piece of the aluminum shield to accommodate for the pads. Guess I don't have to worry about it for a few months anyways (winter content).

Where are you located? People around here SUP year round. It's getting to be a crazy business. Both surf and kite boarding shops pretty much deal mostly in SUP now.

I have surf pads on the front and back of my rack and then straps that hold it down. works great.

Easiest and cheapest way is to put a surf pad on the front, middle and rear bars. If you have a Thule SUP Taxi, any rack shop would be able to sell you the adapters for the bar attachments.
