I hate to be a typical new member and ask a ton of questions but I have searched and cannot find the answer. What is the load rating of the roof rails on the 4th Generation 4Runner? I looked on a '08 Limited I test drove and could not find the usual load rating sticker on the rails...

I finally found a confirmed rating of 120 pounds, that is a joke (one reason I am thinking of replacing my Infiniti is because of its 100 lb load capacity!).
I wonder if this is the rail or crossbar rating? Think Yakima or Thule crossbars could increase the capacity since factory crossbars tend to be the weak link?

i'm sure toyota low-balled the figure with vehicle stability in mind. 120 lbs is a lot considering how far above the center of gravity is sits. i agree with the crossbars being the weak link. there are guys who have modified the roof with this roof rack and then add roof-top tents, ladders, etc...

I put a queen size mattress and its box spring on the roof over the weekend with no problems
