Roof rails

Anyone added longer rails on the roof? Like these;

The rails on our trucks are really short for my taste. And full length racks are damn expensive. So I was just thinkin this could be a good solution. And was wondering if any one had done this already. Pics if you have

Hey, I am looking at purchasing the 78" curved roof rails from proline as well. Have you done anything with these rails?

I did purchase those and install them on my truck. The install was pretty intense tho since I'm not one to just drill holes in my truck. For me it meant removing the headliner, re-enforcing the existing rails, drilling the new rails to use the stock holes, and adding 3 more mounting holes for the front of the rails, and a strengthening piece under the sheet metal of the roof for the front rails. I also shaped the ends of the new rails and painted them before install.

If your down with all the work I think mine turned out nice. And if I can help with questions along the way just ask.

I haven't done rails on a car before, but I have added sets of rails to truck cap toppers (a little bit easier of a feat but my advice might apply).

When you are setting up to drill the holes, I would recommend lining up the rail and drilling the first hole. Place the bolt through, and then mark the next drill point, then drill. Go one at a time. This is just in case if the roof rail moves even a fraction of an inch, you're lining up off the previously drilled holes.

I put a filler in, like caulking to prevent water from coming in. I'm sure that would be in your instructions though. I just went to the junkyard and pulled stock roof racks off cars for my truck bed toppers.
