Rooftop cargo rack that mounts in factory "T" slots?

Is there a rooftop cargo rack out there that mounts on the factory "T" slots instead of clamping to the cross bars? Looking for something that can hold 4-5 jerry cans in the front, and a spare tire in the rear - so it would have to be trail rated for a decent load.

That would work. Looks like a good low cost solution! How much weight have you had on it?

Have you been off road with that kind a load in the rack? I am looking to carry 3-5gal. cans of fuel (@ 30.5LBS + 8LBS for the can) - 115.5 LBS, 1-5gal. can of water (@ 41.6LBS + 8LBS for the can) - 49.6LBS, and the stock 265/70 R16 spare (weight unknown). Not going to do any insane 4 wheeling - just trail excursions on moderate level trails.

This looks like a heavy duty rack. And it mounts into the factory T-slots? Are you using the long or short version?

i always have that size spare on the top. i drove around for a day or 2 with the tires on top but no wheeling. i did it about a month ago and its winter so no wheeling. but that weight doesnt sound like too much.

It sure looks to mount to the factory slots - I haven't seen it first hand though.

Check out all the pictures on their site - shows the rack mounting at a low profile and the stock cross bars are certainly removed.

It mounts in the factory rails. I have the full-length BajaRack.

Do you have any closeup pics of how it mounts to the factory rails? Does it interfere with tilting the sunroof at all, and is it louder on the highway with the sunroof open? Looks great!

No closeups, but you just take the end caps off the rails and the mounts slide into the rails. Once all mounts are in the rails, you lift the rack on top and line up the mounts with the brackets on the rack. Each mount/bracket is tightened with a bolt/nut/washer assembly.

It does not interfere with the sunroof at all...just blocks the view a little. It is not noticeably louder, but I don't typically drive highway speeds with the sunroof open.

I've been very happy with it.

I looked at them and think it was about 6" off the roof at the highest point. If I lift mine more than about 1/4" it won't get to go in the garage anymore =(

Couldn't wait the 3-5 weeks (going on a trip the 17th), so I printed some details off the web and had a friend make one for me. Has a inside useable area of 39" X 56 1/2" with 5" side rails. Cost me $225.00 and a 12pk... :bigok:
