Rotational clunk under drivers left foot

This just started today, made a right turn onto my road I always make and 100 yards later I felt the thump. I stopped and looked for debris etc, there was nothing. I drove the 40 miles home after that.

Symptoms: the thump happens at all speeds up to 60, going straight or turning left or right. It will come and go at speeds over 10 but is always there at low speeds. When stopped and I put it into reverse and travel a few feet and then stop it sounds as if something is still spinning and it makes a thump I can feel on the floorboard and hear. Happens when going from reverse to forward, traveling a few feet and then stopping.

I had it up on ramps to take a good look when I got home, I can't see anything loose or out of place. Everything feels tight. I'm going to get the drivers front wheel off tomorrow and start checking bolts, etc. Any other ideas are very much welcomed!

Well, if the engine seems fine, as per your description, and you are getting rotational "gremlins", then it seems you are looking at driveline issues. CV axle joints can go.

The cv axle will normally have some play where it meets up at the differential, but what you are looking for is the joints, themselves. When you grab the shaft, it should slide in and out a little, but I would be worried about joint failure itself. If you get any metal-to-metal noises, or worse, things a "flopping" around in there, then obviously you've found your problem.

I would also grease up the driveshafts if it has been a while since you did that. the front driveshaft goes along the driver's side of the vehicle.
