So my 87 runner is running really rough after its nice and hot? I have put maybe a 100 miles on it since i did the head gasket. It runs nice when cold. then kinda pop's and chugs, and idles real low once its warm. It still pulls hard but i dont know what it is? vacuum leak? any help will be welcome!

I have the same problem with my 93. From what Ive read im thinking coolant temp sensor, the air idle valve thats built in to the throttle body, or the throttle position sensor. I already changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter, changed the battery terminals,the 80 amp fuse wire. I also did my my head/intake gaskets, pcv valve and hose, changed all the vacuum hoses, intake tube, and checked the valve clearances about 6 months ago, still idles rough. Im taking my TB off today and gonna clean it and check the TPS, I already got a new denso One just incase, Ill let you know If it fixes it.
hey great! ya let me know what fixes it. i just did the head, so it has all new seals on the intake. i replaced like half of the vacume lines because they were past due. Im running injector cleaner through it right now (sea foam) so once that is out then i can start to go through sensors. My temp gauge tells me that the runner is warm and running at normal temp way before the rad is hot. idk if that is a problem or not.

Yeah i got the same problem i replaced plugs and wires. Going for vacume lines and sensors next

I doubt it is your O2 sensor, you would be a check engine light flash if the ECU couldn't read the signal from the sensor. I just did the LC header last weekend and got the flash while driving, sure enough, it was O2 sensor signal. Apparently my wire crimp was gripping the insulator like a demon but not the stripped wire.
My advice would be to look at the temp sensor and the idle air control valve as suggested by someone else above. Most likely the idle air control valve as you don't have any symptoms other than poor idle speed once warm.

Not sure, but my S15's timing is off and it run's like your's when warm.
