Rough Idle in Gear

I searched but came up empty. My 00' 4Runner is idling rough when stopped in Drive. The car seems to vibrate a bit. If I drop it into to Neutral, its goes away. Shift back to "D" and it begins again. This problem is also causing something to rattle in the dash/cowl area.

Any ideas??

1st thing: check (or have checked) your engine & transmission mounts...

A broken or loose mount will make the exact symptoms you've described...

I posted my reply before I saw the link by feloniusQ...

Cleaning the throttle body can only help, and it's great advice.

If that doesn't do the trick, then get those engine and transmission mounts checked.

Thanks for the replies. I've cleaned the TB's and it looks okay. The truck has 123K on it and had the 60k service done on it at 90k since I was not sure if the previous owner did it. The noise/vibrations seem to have gotten worse over the last 6-8 months.

I'll go ahead and take it into Toyo and have them check the tranny/engine mounts. Hopefully they can figure it out and not rape me on the repair bill.
