I have a 97 4Runner SR-5 2WD (V-6) with 85k that rides very rough around town. The tires are properly inflated newer Michelins. My thought is that I need new shocks and struts that are not OEM styled since this was a common auto review problem for the model. We only drive it around town and do not tow with it. I simply need recommendations for the smoothest possible ride. Thanks in advance...

Be sure the spring recall was done. If your rear end is sagging as well I would guess the springs were never changed out and are worn out.

i belive there is a recall or a TSB about the front springs for 3rd gens, because i had my fronts replaced, never the rears... and mine isnt sagging...
