What's your thoughts on which is better. They're both about the same price. Usually i'm a Mobile 1 guy but just recently used Royal Purple because I found it on sale for just 3 bucks a quart at Wally World. Is everyone still using 0w-20 after they get some mile on them? I got 60k on mine now and was just wondering.

the oil spec is 0w-20, regardless of mileage.

two years ago I changed all my motorcycle fluids over to royal purple. Drove like a brand new engine/trans. On something that you are very close to the shifting and engine vibrations/etc. you can tell a difference. Since then I have moved to purple fluids on all my spark plug required toys and haven't looked back. As far as availability, Amazon is your friend, although I am happy to know wally world has some. If your T4R needs an occasional quart from the gas station at a fill up you may need some gasket work. I haven't had a car leak fluids spontaneously in 25 years.

ACME oil company could come out with an oil that supposedly makes your motor run 750K miles with no oil changes, bumps your HP by 50% and increases the length of your johnson by 3" and I'd still run Mobil1.

That reminds me of a funny story when I was a young teen.
My Grandfather worked at a feed lot and one afternoon we were driving around the lot checking on things and a customer had brought in three Brahma bulls for breeding.
We got up to the pen where the first one was in with heifer and he was getting ready for a good date.
I looked at my Grandpa with a "Damn, am I seeing what I am seeing" look and my Grandpa just looked at me and said "Wait till you see the one in the next stall". LOL
Them bulls, they don't need another 3" LOL.

Toyota's 0w20 is about the same thing and supposedly made by Exxon Mobile with extra additives and alot of reading over on BITOG made me a lifetime devotee of it .About the same price as Mobil 1 if you get it online at Camelback Toyota.

Name me one product or brand of anything that has alway been the best at everything since day one. If that product has been produced without change for ten years or more then you can't. Who has the best product from computer apps to oil will always change. Change or be left behind.

Great sales pitch, but no meat to the video. I would want to see the weight of oil being tested (0w-20, 10w-30, 20w-50). Also seeing those oils run at -40F (or whatever cold start temp) and then 180F (or whatever operating temp). Then a coke test for shutdown to simulate thermal soak back.

for what it's worth as long as the right viscosity is used who cares what brand of oil, change frequency along with a clean filter is all that matters. On my old Honda I have had for 13 years I have used 5-20W always at 5,000 miles with a new filter & used synthetic, original, or whatever from Mobil 1 to Valvoline and the engine burns no oil, leaks no oil & the fuel consumption is the same at 25mpg when it had 10,000 miles on it or the current 160,000 miles. There is no build up of sludge inside the valve cover and no weird noises either. I expect I will treat my 2014 4Runner the same way and expect exactly the same thing to happen - spending $10 a quart on Royal Purple or whatever the perceived top brand is seems a waste when the Toyota or Mobil 0-20W will do the same job or even the NAPA 0-20W I picked up a case of for $2.99 a quart. But I agree there is a feel good reason when buying a "luxury" item whether it be clothes or anything else or even oil!
