RPM differences between 4 speed Auto and 5 speed standard?

Hi Gang, I post this in the Toyota Truck Newsgroup also, but I think I can have a better answer in this area.

I just purchased a 97 4Runner SR5, 5 speed with leather. ELock and Sunroof...... with Dunlop tires !!

It has 93K miles on it. The previous owner took pretty good care of it, with dealer maintaince records in the glove box. ( Timing belt @ 68K and one recall repair) . Comes with brush guard, fog lights, lheadlights and taillights covers. hood and windows guard. She even put those clamp on racing paddles.

I had my mechanic checked out the truck, he said I will need brakes and rotors soon and probably a clutch in the future.

One question I have......
I am just wondering...Would engine RPM different if two identical 4Runners traveling on highway at 75 mph? which would have a higher RPM? Provided one is a 4 speed auto and another one is a 5 speed!

Anyone has some facts or charts?

OK, you brought this on yourself! In two IDENTICAL 4 Runners the engine RPM would be exactly the same. But, if one is an auto and one a manual then I guess they are not identical, right? The two trannies will probably effect the RPM at speed, but two manuals could also be at different RPM's at the same speed, same for 2 autos. They key factor here is the differential gear ratio, Toyota used a wide variety in the 3rd gen, not sure what the highest ratio in Runners is but it is probably around a 3.58 with the lowest ratio being a 4.56. My 2000 5 speed with the 4.56 and 16" rims runs about 3k at 75 and goes up really fast from there, at 90 the thing screams and I don't drive that fast much at all.
