RPM Drop too fast [VIDEO]

I notice today after my 400 miles trip that the RPM drop too fast.

What can causes this? or it's completely normal?

Thanks. You sure that is normal? This seem to take A lot of power to go back to 1500 rpm when this drop like this.

Is that your auto trans shifting from 2nd to 3rd? Seems normal to me unless you feel something dragging it down when it shifts. Maybe show all the shift points and tell us how far you have the gas pedal down.

not exactly sure what you're showing. just looks like an upshift.

if you think theres something wrong, it would help more to make the video longer, with repeated accelerations.

Did you find the problem I have the same issu on my 97 4runner. I wonder if it's the TPS??

On my 1997 4Runner V6, there is a dashpot that is supposed to dampen the throttle return. If yours has it, check it.

Just to clarify, only manuals have a dashpot.

The little diaphrams tend to wear out over 200k miles so they stop softening the throttle closure, rendering themselves pretty much useless. Another symptom is a lurch when you let off the gas completely since the throttle snaps shut too fast.
