rpm with gear change

looking to change the gears in my 94 runner...thinking about either the 4.56 or 4.88s...got a 94 4runner 3.slow auto...so what rpm would I be turning at 80 mph in the high gear

i believe u have 4.10s right now. u didnt say what tire size u have but i bet u have 31x10.50. if this is right i would say 4.56. it will give u great throttle response on the highway but your top speed will only be about 90 mph. my buddy has 4.56 gears in his 3.0 truck and it has crazy throttle response in any gear. this will also give u worse gas mileage than your already thirsty 3.0

my 94 3.0 is a stock auto w/ 31's and 4.88s. at 70 mph my rpms are just under 3k.

i bet you have the 4.10's now, so if you went with 4.56 you'd be spinning about 11% faster at 80 than you are now, and if you went to 4.88 you'd be 19% high rpms.

He said he has a V6 and auto, that combo would not come with 4.10 gears, it would have 4.56, possibly 4.88 from factory.

i know this is an old thread but i have a 88 runner 3.0 auto and it had 4.10 for stock gears i should have 4.30 if its auto stock for my year. anyways i have upgraded to 4.88s already
