Rpm ???

My 95 4Runner is a 6 cyl, 5 speed. In 5th gear Im turning 3000 RPM's at 65 MPH. This seems really high to me. My old 85 didnt turn that fast and my Tundra turns 2000 RPM's at 65. I have wondered sence I bought the 95 if this is normal. So I thought I would check with the rest of you and see what you thought.

That sounds about right. I have 32's and at about 2800 at 65.

My 2003 V8 runner runs low RPM like your Tundra. Same drive line I believe.

My 89 1st gen. 3VZ-E 4Runner with the 5 speed ran 2,500 rpm at 65 with 31/ 1050's and stock 4.10 gears. 3 grand seems a little high.

I'm also about 2500 rpm at 65. I have to hit 75ish to get it up to 3000.

As far as i know, all 5 speed 1st gens had 4:10's. But i have no idea about 2nd gens. A friend has an auto 2nd gen with stock 4.88's. But if you have higher than 4.10's that'd be why you're crusing 3 grand at only 65. My 22re cruises 3k at 69.

I used to run that high. Now I run 36's with the 4.10's and I do about 2500 goin 65 (aka approx 52 mph on the speedo hehe)

You'll essentially "gear down" if you up your tire size a few inches. Maybe your 95 comes with gears higher than 4.10

Yeah u got 4.56 gears....I'd say I'm probably 80% sure you do unless its been fondeled with...
I had a 92 5spd with 4.30s I found that really strange

Im thinking 4.56 too cause mine does 63mph at 3000rpm and 84mph at 4000rpm

I drive about 700 miles a week from Grand Jct, CO to SLC Utah and back every week. So mine loves to run, for a 3.0, "CAR RAMROD" is a badass !

My rpm facts are..

2500 @ 65
2750 @ 70
3000 @ 75

32x11.5's ... speedo discrepancy properly accounted for. I've checked my speedo with a friend driving exactly 60 mph right beside me in his car. His speedo said 60 while mine said 55.

I'm beginning to wonder if my gears have been changed from the factory 4.100:1 by some previous owner..

Does that seem likely to anyone?

No I think u still got 4.10s....if u wanna check without pulling the diff, Jack the truck up chalk the drive shaft and tire, make 1 full rotation with the tires and count how many times your drive shaft spins wont be super accurate but it'll give u an idea
