Hey everyone, I've seen some speculation about this kit in different threads and thought I'd post up my first impressions. I had a seized caliper in the front and rear and thought I'd replace everything just for good measure. Here is what I installed on my 2006 V6 Limited:
Front:
Rear:
The rear components were bought on RockAuto. The rear left caliper had its bleeder screw hole machined off-center, so the tapered end of the screw was not seating properly and leaked. I filed a warranty claim online, ordered a new one immediately, and sent the bad one back with my core returns. Love doing business with them.
For brake lines, I bought the Crown performance SS brake lines w/ 2" extension because I have a 2" lift...in hindsight the extensions weren't really necessary though. The kit includes the front brake lines and the rear upper brake lines. For the remaining two lower rear brake lines I bought the Stoptech rear kit and I used ATE Type 200 DOT4 brake fluid.
Here is a picture of the BBK (don't worry I cleaned the rotors off):
Installation was very simple, bolted right up. I did have to trim my dust shields slightly with a dremel to fit the caliper brackets but overall it was quite painless. RR Racing provides instructions for bedding the brakes, and braking performance definitely improved after the bedding procedure. There are bleeders on the top and bottom, but I believe you only need to use the top one (this is done to make them universal L/R). Be careful when tightening the bleeder screws too because they are very small and can strip easily if you're not careful.
I feel the nose dive a bit more than before under hard braking, and that is probably to be expected when you change the F/R bias this far from stock. The brake overhaul combined with SS lines definitely gives a nice firm pedal feel and braking is 10x better than my stock setup, though keep in mind two of my calipers were seized. Overall my 4Runner feels much safer, especially when unleashing the supercharger
Let me know if you have any more questions!
