Rubbing/grinding noise

To check it out you can ask a mechanic, or jack your car up and shake the wheel with your hands. If it is a wheel bearing issue the wheel will be a little loose.

hey all i put some grease on the stops and so far there has not been a noise from them. guess it will jist be part of the changing oil routine. thankyou all so very much.

CJ3Flyr has the correct fix. Very common problem even back to the 80s Trucks.

Here are 2 more threads.

For some reason the Pic I post in the 07/2005 thread is gone. Must have happened in the migration to the new software???? Almost the same pic as CJ3Flyr posted. His has better arrows.:biggrin2:

Definitely try it before going off on a tangent over the wheel bearings. Almost free fix (grease) OR Well over $300 fix for Bearing and hub assemblies. HUMMMM

I like FREE!!!!

Problem found

Took it to a mechanic and had it looked at. My brake rotor protective plate was loose and rubbing on the disc causing the noise. $65 dollars later, no more rubbing... I wish it was the steering stop though, $1.95 tube of grease would have been a lot better, but glad to have my 4R back.

Glad it's fixed, it was still much cheaper than a bearing...

My '07 4wd does the same thing. When turning left from time to time on a more aggressive turn i would hear a popping sound coming from the left side. I wondered what it was but i guess my worries are over. Ill pick up some grease from work and see if that cures the problem.
thanks for the info guys and the picture made it easier to understand.
