Do all stock 2000 4 runners ride like a tank or is it just mine?

Haven't driven a tank (but boy would I LOVE to!) but yeah, my 01 is 'bouncy' when its just me, no cargo and any amount of gas.

When I load up with 600-800lbs of corn in rear seat/cargo area, she rides Nice! So yeah its kinda normal given their suspension abilities (its a trade off). :banana:

Assuming a tank is a horribly stiff and harsh ride, I'd say no. What suspension are you running, and how many miles do you have on it.

Having actually driven an M1 Abrams, the ride isn't actually that bad. You're basically reclined in a plush chair and it's kind of floaty. My 4Runner though, I've hit the headliner/sunroof frame after driving over big enough expansion joints on the highway.

Compared to my LS400, it's pretty rough. Compared to my buddy's lifted ranger, it's pretty smooth. I'd still say mine probably runs a tad on the stiffer side, its not the most comfortable road vehicle by far, but that's not why I have one. It all makes up for it as soon as I hit the dirt.

Are you hitting the rear bump stops? That was my case before I replaced the shocks and springs. Night and day difference. 80k miles? Wow, that's awesomely low.

I have Bilstein 4XXX series on mine and I love the tight suspension myself. If I wanted a "smooth ride" I would've gotten a soccer mom SUV or car, just saying.

Mine has 268k and it's never had the fron struts or springs replaced (PO was a cheapskate) and the rear shocks and springs look like they were done 100k or so ago. Basically the front is saggy and a bit bouncy and the rear is stiff as all get-out. Overall though a much better ride than a comperable tacoma but not as nice as my tundra.
