I unfortunately just ruined my Nav! As I took the Nav apart, I ripped the ribbon cable! I am hoping someone can tell me where to get a replacement, knows someone who can fix these things. It is an E7005. (Toy part number 86120-35320) Any help assistance is greatly appreciated.

why were you anywhere near that piece?
Most of the times, things like that are irreplaceable..you would need to find a used nav screen online somewhere and hope that they dont have a simialar problem..

Whoa wait. Some buttons weren't working in the first place? Was it Toyota's nav? It should have been under warranty unless you surpassed the 36k warranty. If you put it back and make it look like you didn't do anything take it back and DON'T mention you took it apart, otherwise you just voided the warranty.

Well, after long phone calls and a lot of research, Fujitsu Ten told me about their repair shop, which is a company in NYC called "United Radio Service" (They have a web page) They have ordered the part from Japan for $68!!!!! I thank you for everybody's response.

If the spare part doesn't come through it looks like you might be able to bridge the broken traces with wire. Also was the price quoted for the new part installed or the part only? I ask because that ribbon has a few surfact mount parts on it. It's possible you'll need to transfer those over to the new ribbon and or the new part will arrive as a complete assembly.

Repair or not to repair
Actually there has been a delay, so I have not received the part yet. I beleive all swithces and all led's will be already on the ribon cable, but I will confirm once the part arrives.
To answer a previous question yes Toyota's only solution was to relace it $4000, which I though was pretty sad.

FAydin, If that assembly has the LEDs on it, you may have just found the hidden pot of gold. So many people are wanting to do the LED swap after getting the E7007 & E7009, but too afraid to break out the soldering iron for good reason.
So if the printed circuit assembly has everything mounted already, everybody can just order one from an E7008 and voilla! They have the amber lighting for $68. I do a lot of precision soldering for work and hobbies, and would have no problem tearing into a project like that, but for 68 bucks, I think it's worth it just to buy it!

Shoel, it can be done. You need to very careful though! Take the two screws at the pivot point - bottom- of the screen. Look from top, behind the screen you need to loosen the ribbon cable. (You need to be VERY careful not to rip the cable) This ribbon cable and the 2 screws are the only things that conncets the screen to head unit. Putting the cable back into place is a little challanging but with patience it could be done.

Shoeal, it should work. I have compared at a dealer an E7008 & E7009 last weekend. I now know E7008 is 4Runner amber model, E7009 Solara version. They are the very same unit with different lights. They have the same button layout, same version numbers, etc. If you call the United Radio Service, those guys are pretty helpful. If you tell them that you are trying to replace the ribbon cable for E7008, (It would be helpful if you give them Toyota's part number for E7008. Such as 12345-65789) they will order one for you. Once you get the cable, please put the part number on this board so the rest of can order easily.
