Rule of thumb - Spidertrax wheel offset / bs

I'm digging through here trying to find the right combo to no avail. Lots of similar posts - just cant' seem to nail down the right info on 17x9 offset/bs requirements on a limited.

I'm eventually going to go big with probably a mid-travel kit from TC - but for starters, until the money is better and I can get the rest of the stuff pounded out on my 09 limited I'm looking for help.

I've added Spidertrax 1.25" spacers all around and will ad a 3/2 lift - either Cornfed or other - depending on when Cornfed starts shipping again to emulate the TC until I can afford the real mccoy.

This will allow me to put my money into the lockers and armor, bumpers, sliders first - while establishing rough ride hieght.

Anyway - I have money for new wheels & tires now. I'm looking at some 17x9s to run. It's a limited so its supposed to have bigger calipers/rotors. I could go with a 18" rim - like what's on it - stock but think my tire choices will be broader with the 17s.

Problem is - I'll probably need to order the wheels - and need to know what back-spacing / offset to get to clear the UCA and calipers and to keep the tires inside of the wheel wells - pretty much where they ended up with the Spidertrax on there. I'm looking to run tall (32 or 33") narrow tires (65s or less).

Without driving 100 miles for the wheels I want and camping out while 4 Wheel Parts figures it out - is there anyone whose done this on a limited before? What I saw was: "4.75" Backspacing and -6mm Offset?"

So my question is - is there anyone who's already been through this with a limited / spidertrax / cornfed 3/2- and figured out the wheel offset/bs?

Well, I may have screwed up. I bought the Spidertrax and the Cornfed because I thought the combination would best emulate my long term target. I'm not too concerned about trimming because I'm planning on going with a custom bumper and 33s at the largest in the narrowest tire AT or MT I can get for the 9" rim.

When I'm ready I'll move to an aftermarket UCA/coilover system up front like the TC or Camberg. I though the combo would establish a "close" ride height and wheel position for tire clearance, etc - so when the bumpers & sliders are being built - I can figure out how things will come together - without the big spend up front.

Maybe I don't' need the Spidertrax if I get the right offset?

Wondered how to do that when you fix the front with the new UCA's and the rear... so guess the offset does that for you..??

I might consider 16" rims at 8" if you don't have big brakes. 255/85/16 is a cool tire in the 33" family.

Maybe I don't' need the Spidertrax if I get the right offset?:iagree: If you're buying rims that are not a stock T4R rims then buy the correct offset in the first place.

Wondered how to do that when you fix the front with the new UCA's and the rear... so guess the offset does that for you..?? UCA's won't affect the wheel position/track. They'll allow for proper wheel alignment and reduce UCA rubbing for the wide tire guys. You'd have to get into a Chaos mid-travel kit or something before the track would vary more than fractions of an inch.

Yea - well the TC mid travel kit - which I think puts the wheel stance 2" wider is the target currently. So that's what I'm trying to accomplish. So I'll have to get the wheels with the correct offset and sell the Spidertrax.

You're serious about the TC kit? If so your original concept may not be so crazy.:D Buy a rim that tucks under a bit and use the spacers until you get the kit. Makes sense. Someone at TC should be able to provide you with some numbers. Once you have those dimensions you can narrow down the rims.

Yep - that's where I'm headed. I'll give them a call this week and get their suggestions. Thanks.
