I read about the "rumble strip issue" but it doesn't seem to be the case here. 2004 4wd SR5 at about 60,000 miles, a few weeks ago the rumble sound started to appear intermittently. It's more like a washboard sound, not as loud as when I really go over a rumble strip. I can hear it, not feel it. It happens at low speed acceleration (lightly touch the gas pedal from stop or under 10 mph) most often, but not always. When it happens, it lasts 1 or 2 seconds then gone until I touch the gas pedal again.
Recently I got the cracked dashboard replaced by the dealer, but that can't be it right?
Last year there was a transmission leak, the fluid level went pretty low that the truck felt heavy and dragging for about 100 miles. But since it got fixed there has been no issue, also the mechanic told me that the transmission didn't seem to be damaged at the time.
Both front CV joint boots had been broken for a while now, and sometimes it makes a bit grinding/clicking sound on U-turns. I need to get that fixed eventually but it's probably not the culpit here? Because if it is the CV joints making noise, I should hear it as long as the axles are spinning, right? But the noise only appears when accelerating.
Anyone got similar issue or ideas what it might be?
