"Rumble Strip" Transmission issue

sorry to resurrect an old thread.

im dealing with this issue now. they did a full flush and added 2 pouches of shudderfix and the issue isn't fixed. i've only driven 20-30 miles since the repair.

where do i go from here?

Do what AuSeeker recommended. Find out what fluid the shop used, and if it wasn't Toyota WS then get the fluid exchanged for that. Generic multi-spec fluids are generally problematic and ruling out fluid as the cause is the next step.

I went through this years ago. Put in a tube of Shudder
Fixx. I bought it at Advance Auto Parts. A mechanic/buddy told me about it. I thought he was pulling my leg. It worked!!!! Give it a few miles. Or you can replace the torque converter. It's been about ten years.

This thread has been a good read while we wait till the temps warm outside the camper so that we go ride the MTBs.

I don't have this issue at 385xxx but I'm intrigued with the issue. Why does replacing the TC fix it? Shuddering indicates to me that something is engaging/disengaging at a high frequency or, something is grabbing/slipping like a clutch band.

Glad that ATF swap has helped out some of you and I'm glad I do drain/refill at every oil change on all of my cars. Just a habit I've had for the last 25 years.
I tow heavily with all of my SUVs so this habit is just a mindset I've adopted, even in the DD sedan that's 30+ yo [emoji16]

Carry on and Happy New year [emoji1360]

Been sifting through this topic. I have a 2008 V8 4x4 (232K miles) that's has the beginnings of the rumble strip symptom taking place mostly between 1500-2000rpms. I had the transmission fluid drained and filled a few weeks ago. I'm wanting to buy a few tubes of the Shudderfix and give it a go.

Can anyone recommend a good instruction video/tutorial for "novice" folks out there on how to access and add this to the transmission. I've done basic work on cars and trucks and I'm decently mechanically inclined. That said, I don't have access to a lift (I should probably look into a local DYI place that rents bays) and would need to do this in my garage. I asked one of my usual local shops here in SC but they were resistant to add anything for liability reasons.

Appreciate any help!
