Rumbling and vibrating on acceleration

Hi, I have some issues with the car. Under low rpm acceleration, the car rumbles and vibrates badly, and goes away slightly at higher rpms. It also vibrates when my foot is on the pedal, but goes away when I let off the pedal. It also makes a clunk when I change from park to drive, or reverse to drive, or drive to reverse etc. I also noticed that while turning and hitting some bumps, it made a bad grinding noise.

I'm thinking that it's my transmission, but it could also be the driveshaft or maybe the differential. Is there any other component in the front that could be causing it? The gears still change fine and everything and there doesn't seem to be any power loss.

hi, thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the u-joints and they look fine. I crawled under and had someone shift gears, and when put in drive, the part that connects the transmission to the driveshaft makes the clunking noise/jolt. I'm assuming the carrier bearing (if there is one there) is toast. Anyone think otherwise?

I have also had the same problem and was forced to buy a new ignition module (roughly $80 anywhere). Seeing that there are 3 on my 1999 S45, and you will have to find out how many you have. We happened to try one and got it on the first time and the check engine light went off, try a spark plug tester on each(if u have). I also cleaned out the egr or egc module (with some contact cleaner), heard it would help clean out the problem and it didnt.

Sounds like he has a drivetrain issue not a drivabilty. Don't think he mentioned anything about the motor running rough or throwing a CEL.

my bad just tryin to put some info in, lately i have not had any issues with anything, sometimes i hear a rattling when i accelerate, doesnt seem to be harming anything, and i just thought it was the cad converter. checked that and still dont know what it is, makes a rattling from under my car

looks like it is very likely the cross bearing(s) that connects the U-joints. Has anyone replaced one before? How easy/hard is it?

has anyone taken out the driveshaft before? I'm looking to do it at home in the garage and try to replace the front u-joint. Any advice/links/or explanations will be greatly appreciated.
