figured i would add some real fab to this board, not much, but a little.

The next two weeks will see half doors being made, sliders welded on, rock lights fixed and HID's going in the light forces. if i have time, i will also cut and weld the 1st gen roll bar and add that to the build.. stay tuned!

I'm talking half doors, tube doors would take too long to fab and I only have 2 weeks before seto. I am putting them on my 02, the one you saw in Orlando. I am going to start cutting on wednesday hopefully. I am using the doors off my future f-toy vehicle so I can switch between halfs and full doors on a whim

nice :guitar2: cant wait to see it, I was abotu ready to do the half doors and well, that aint happen now, lol

LMFAO! bgmac I agree. How bout the one that says "washed my truck 2day what do you think?"

yeah this board needs a little sprucing up, throw this on yotatech...its been stricken with the same low scale plague but its gotten better recently.

if you would save some notes for the half doors i've found a pair in metro atlanta i plan on chopping next summer when the rear bumper is finished. i've drawn some preliminary sketches and it ends up with knocking off a few inches below, gut the inside and weld sheet spanning the width of the door. from there just grind and sand flush and paint.

Yeah I agree and look forward to a build like this being on here. I post any progress on my rear bumper and get stuff like " why are you building it? Will it help off-road? Why not just buy one?" Then again the amount of time I have spent in the build phase of my rear bumper I could have bought and waited for the Shrockworks front bumper.(which I am gong to purchase) Keep posted and with detailed notes.

Hey Kyle the half doors are a great idea. If anyone could use them it would definitely be you - I remember taking a pic of you trying to squeeze through your window one time when you got stuck in some mud at Withlacoochee and couldn't open your door :D Half doors will make life a lot easier for you :D I think that old pic is somewhere on this site.

i will probably post up threads there and at UY once i start cutting and welding, but am too busy sourcing metal and time at my friends shop in order to get this all done before SETO, speaking of SETO, are you going?

and yeah, i have NO idea how im going to cut the doors, but i plan to spend a few hours with some beer and painters tape to get the design i want and then cut the next day.

stay tuned for a surpise bonus....

oh come on, you dont want to do half doors on your 4th gen?

RunnerUp What sliders are you going to run with?[/QUOTE]

unfortunately due to time restraints i cant build my own right now so i just bought the trail gear sliders, figure i will use them till i can spend some time desigining just what i want.

ha yeah i remember that trip greg, hopefully it will make it easier to enter and exit the vehicle when my doors wont open, im kinda a big guy to be fitting through that window anymore!

Looking forward to seeing the half doors come to life. So you plan to make these bolt on /bolt off and interchangable with the normal doors? Whats your plan for the door electrics?

When you're talking about rock lights, you mean the little lights that get installed in the wheel arches, or something different?

not going to seto i'm finishing up my bba this year i won't take less than a 3.8 gpa these last 2 semesters, so no trip time barely. next year is a different story...i'm chopping the entire roof of the car off, redoing the pillar geometry in tubing with the 1st gen roll bar in the rear and having a custom canvas soft top made. couple that with a solid axle in the front and i have a full years worth of work and money cut out for me

started cutting the doors today! doing my roommates doors for his taco first and then mine, should have some cut sheet metal pics by wednesday!

and just to let everyone know, cutting through this sheet metal is a bear with just a cut off disc. cant wait to get to my buddys shop to play with his plasma cutter!

alright, here is the rough idea of where i am going to cut, though i might leave more of an elbow rest area than i currently have outlined.
