Running board fix

Soon after installing the factory running boards, the rubber seal (flap whatever you want to call it) has bent downwards. When looking at the vehicle from the side, you can say light coming through. When i first installed, everything was fine, but after a couple months (maybe it's from those high pressure touchless car washes) the black rubber is only being held up in certain spots by the running board brackets. Other than taking the running boards off or getting different running boards, anybody know how to fix this? Thanks.

My 2010 T4 runner come with running board look just like yours, I thought they are Toyota factory ( i was told so from the dealer) until i saw exactly running on another domestic vehicle, I was really disappointed about this.

Mine were put on by the dealer back in April and I haven't noticed this issue. I'm going to look a little closer tonight when I get home.

I put my own running boards on (OEM ones). The first time I put one on, I had the black rubber flap outside the body (towards the edge of the running board). I noticed the corners were curving down a bit and thought it looked bad.

So I loosened the bolts and pushed the rubber flap through towards the inside. Looks MUCH better, doesn't hold mud or water against the body, and you don't have to worry about them bending downwards.

Just a thought.

what is the right way to install them?

So What is the correct position of the rubber flap when installing? Downward towards the edge of the board or push back behind the body?
